Oh- hey. We've all left America now. We had a wonderful trip and highly recommend it as a travel destination. I got drunk (on 40s, of course) and lost my camera on the last night of our stay- so no more photos. Oh well. We hope you enjoyed the site, and even if you didnt, I enjoyed putting it together. In the states you can buy these things called 40s. They are 40 ounce (1.186 litres) glass bottles of malt liquor- which is high alcohol beer. They taste pretty good and usually cost less than $2. It's a six pack in a bottle. We have fallen in love with them. They are the greatest things in the world. They are often sold in brown paper bags and hobos drink them.

This additional chap is Drew. He introduced us to Jenna outside the pub. He is tops. This is them saying goodbye. They werent really as delighted as the picture suggests. I managed to lose our only car key the night before (plonker) and having paid US$65 for a replacement we were off. These are our 3 favourite Texans- after the family of hill-billies we met while swimming at the lake. They are my favourite people ever.

Then we went to Nacodoches, East Texas. We meet these two fantastic girls- Jenna and Valerie and they let us stay at their place for two nights. They like drinking and partying too. The other guy is their cowboy landlord Earl. He was real sweet.

We head east from a town called Alpine. We realise we could make San Antonio by the evening and see one of our favourite singers Ozzy Osbourne perform at Ozzfest. We arrive there after about six hours driving and pay US$35 to get in. We suffer through Disturbed and an especially poor performance by System of a Down to see the stage being packed up and to be told that Ozzy played much earlier in the day. San Antonio is gay

Then Roy and I wound up the night by singing the Spice Girls hit- 2 becomes 1 at an outdoor Karaoke bar. We recieved applause.

We had quite an adventure getting a picture of this number plate in Phenoix (gun murder capital of America). He speed past a negligent cop, then turned off the main road at great speed. We dilligently pursued him and were rewarded with this photo, once he stopped at a YMCA. Ace

Tonamu: This is the other three still asleep the morning after we got lost and stuck in the desert. Two carloads of Mexicans rescued us and we got to San Felipe just before midnight, which is when the stores stop selling beer. Doubly lucky.
Zach slept on top of the van, Roy is in the passenger seat and Tom is stretched out across the back. It was too hot here, we slept badly.

Oh, we neglected to introduce Zach. He is a good friend of Tonamu's cousin, Jesse, who we meet in San Diego. He makes balloon things, like the dinosaur in the picture. He had a week to kill so he joined us for our trip to Mexico. Cool.

We were drinking with some guys our age in San Francisco and one of them mentioned that he had just been on a cruise ship with three of his friends. Apparently, the cruise wouldn't take passengers under 25 years unless they were married or accompanied by someone older. These four nineteen-year-old guys were really keen to go on this cruise. So they all married each other. Apparently they forgot to ask for the honeymoon suite, but it sounded like they still had a good time.

Roy: Tom bought dungarees from a San Fran op shop the other day and decided to wear them the following day without a shirt, wearing just the denim and his Dr. Martin boots. He thought he looked like a tough hick, not to be messed with. Little he did he know that he looked like a regular homo in frisco with his nipples hanging out (as confirmed later by our hostesses) and the butch wanker didn't even get hit on. Haha

Tonamu: The palm trees on Venice Beach (Los Angeles) have been tagged. The grafitti goes up five metres on many of the trees, not sure how they did that.
The mattress is probably a homeless person's bed. The blue tarp behind one of the trees has a homeless person in it.
The buildings in the distance become hard to see if they are more than two kilometres away, because of the godawful smog. This was a yucky beach.

Tonamu: We replaced the burst tyre with the spare tyre (which we were told was full) that turned out to be completely flat. The state freeway assistance man filled it up, and it was all bumpy, like it had the mumps. We drove with the hazard lights on at 20mph until we found a tyre garage.

Tonamu: This is what the front right tyre looked like when the van stopped moving. The tyre blew up on the five-lane Santa Monica Freeway while we were heading from Los Angeles to San Diego. The steel rim is resting on the road.
